Shopping in Guilin
Shopping in the lovely tourist city Guilin is quite a different enjoyment. Guilin is an especially good place to pick up some souvenirs, arts and crafts. You will enjoy a unique and interesting shopping experience with its numerous small streets, flee markets and evening markets.

Shopping Malls and Markets
The oldest Guilin Department Store and the Japanese operated Niko Niko Do Plaza are both located at the Zhongshan Zhong Road in downtown area. The Zhengyang Pedestrain Street close to the City Center Square is overflowing with small boutiques. The market under the City Center Square called "Little Hong Kong" is a maze of alleys with lots of stall offering daily necessities at very cheap prices. The market inside the Bagui Building opposite to the City Center Square also offers daily necessities at reasonable prices.

Souvenirs Art and Craft's
The evening market on Zhongshan Zhong Road is very intereting and it is the best place to pick up souvenirs and trinkets. The market opens from 8:00 pm to midnight when half of the main street is blocked to cars for the market. The colorful market offers some products unique to southern China such as the ethnic dresses, ethnic minority music instruments, paper fans, bamboo carvings and jade crafts. Many local people together with visitors, maybe not to buy but to enjoy the atmosphere. The real fun of the market to the tourists is not only to buy some souvenirs but also to enjoy the experience of the local evening life.

Landscape Painting
Lanscape Painting in Guilin is worth recommending. Guilin with its superlative natural scenery has inspired generations of Chinese painters to create their masterpieces. If you are intereted in landscape paintings. The following galleries are very famous: The painting gallery in Jingjiang Prices Places (at the foot of the Solitary Beautiful Peak), Guilin Art Museum: on the Li River Bank inside the Nanxishan Park and the art shops in the Zhengyang Pedestrain Street or on the Binjiang Road.

Painted Fan

The small town of Fuli close to Yangshuo is specializes in painted fan making. A vast majority of locals in the town are involved in this imitation craft. These fans are excellent quality and look beautiful, decorated with painted flowers, birds, insects and traditional Chinese girls. They range from the small hand fan to large canopies and can make very good wall decorations.

These fans are widely available in Yangshuo and Guilin, however the best place to buy is in the small shops in the town.
